Police: Mother was driving drunk from a “baby shower” with five children in the car; one died in the accident that caused

HOUSTON – A mother who was driving this Sunday morning in an alleged state of drunkenness faces charges after she crashed her vehicle against a pole, five children were also traveling in the car and one of them lost life, according to the authorities.
The charges against the driver, of 35 years, were modified hours after the accident when officers learned that a four-year-old boy, who was traveling in the vehicle, died of his injuries sustained in the incident.
Investigators believe the boy suffered a severe head injury.
The driver now faces felony murder charges, according to officials.
Investigators at the scene said the woman was heading home after being at a baby shower party. During the investigation it was determined that the woman was intoxicated.
Sheriff Ed González on his Twitter account confirmed that the driver is the victim’s mother.
The other four children were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
González reported that the children in the vehicle are between the ages of 2 and 10 years.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
