In the recent era of streaming competition , viewers can enjoy 13 Marvel movies in a new format called Imax Enhanced on Disney +.

The roster, which includes this year’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will air in the extended aspect ratio, showing a 26% more of the movie image on home screens .

The initiative will be launched this Friday, in which the company has designated as the Disney + Day as a promotional strategy linked to the anniversary of the launch of the streaming service.

Disney + movies will default to the Imax enlarged aspect ratio which is 1, 90:1. The normal widescreen versions of the movies will also continue to be available. Due to the evolution of technology, some of the first titles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as Captain America: Civil War, were only partially shot on Imax. For their part, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were the first titles to be filmed entirely with Imax cameras.

The CEO of Imax, Rich Gelfond, said filmmakers and fans have been pushing for the past few years for an Imax-like form to be featured in streaming movies . The company has had discussions with other studios to offer a brand format on other streaming services.

Marvel movies, on the other hand , have been a phenomenon in Imax format since 2010 , with a total Imax collection of more than $ 1, 600 millions of dollars.
