A mother and her 2-year-old daughter survived a fall of 100 feet , equivalent to 30 meters, while on a trail in Oregon on Sunday, reportedly.
The 2 year old girl slipped and was the first to turn off a road in Multnomah Falls and when the mother tried holding their daughter, they both rushed over the side and fell into a stream below, around 12: 15 pm, reported the local network KGW.
Other hikers, including one who is a doctor by profession, assisted the couple until the first responders arrived, according to the report.
“They were both alert and aware. None of his injuries was life-threatening , ”a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office told NBC News. Multnomah County.
“Initially reported to 911 that the height of the fall was approximately 50 feet. After confirming where the two hikers fell, first responders believe the fall was closer to 100 to 150 feet, ”said Chris Liedl, spokesman for the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.
The mother and daughter were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The The incident occurred at Multnomah Falls, about 17 miles east of Portland, shortly after noon Sunday.
“Both were assisted by other hikers, including an off-duty ER doctor. The mother and daughter were taken to the hospital to receive treatment for their injuries, ”added Liedle.
Nearby hikers, including someone trained in medicine emergency workers grabbed blankets and jackets from the gift shop and rescued the mother and daughter from the creek, KGW8 reported.
