TEXAS – A confrontation at a Texas airport facility has generated controversy.

The candidate for governor of Texas, Allen West , said that he was the protagonist of an altercation at the International Airport Dallas-Fort Worth on Wednesday where during the discussion he “removed” the mask from a person who insulted him for not wearing it. 8

West, former chairman of the Republican Party from Texas, said in a statement that airport police took a report on the incident that began after he was confronted by a man “who cursed and insulted him for not wearing a mask.”

It should be noted that at airports the use of face masks is mandatory and West ignored the protocols by not wearing one.

Faced with the insults of the person for not wearing a mask, West “responded by removing the mask from the individual,” said his statement. The man allegedly “raised his fists” and West walked away.

This morning at the airport a man starts yelling at me and tells me to put my mask on and calls me an idiot. I walked over to him and asked if he called me an idiot, he continued to yell at me. I pulled down his mask and said see, nothing happened. pic.twitter.com/8TrbQufECL

“This morning at the airport a man starts yelling at me and He said to put the mask on and calls me an idiot, ”West wrote on Twitter. “I went up to him and asked him if he called me an idiot, he kept yelling at me. I lowered his mask and said, look, nothing happened ”.

“There is no mask law, nothing has ever been approved in the United States House of Representatives and Senate to make a law about wearing masks, ”he wrote.

But face covers are required on all public transportation, including airports, at least until January.

The man who confronted West has not been identified. It’s unclear if he knew West, who called the man a “leftist partisan” and compared the incident to others involving conservative critics of COVID restrictions – 19.

West has already been hospitalized in Plano with COVID – 19 in October, but still maintains his stance of not wearing a mask.

Allen West announced in July that he would challenge Republican Governor Greg Abbott , who is running for a third term and has been endorsed by Donald Trump .
