California Highway Patrol Hunt For Hours To Stop Driver Who Stole Truck In Los Angeles

After more than 11 hours, with a long chase by the California Highway Patrol and being stopped in the middle of a highway , the driver of a stolen truck in Los Angeles surrendered this Thursday morning in Ventura County.

About 8 o ‘clock: 45 am, CHP officers and a SWAT team from the Santa Ana Police Department, arrested the driver , allegedly from 22 years and who was unarmed.

Authorities said the subject appeared to be scared and refused to turn himself in when he was first contacted at approximately 3 am .

Stole the truck Wednesday night

Shortly after 8pm on Wednesday, the drive he was driving, a truck of 18 wheels, was reported stolen from a Individual FoodService facility, in Bell, Los Angeles County s.

The driver caused a chase through Los Angeles and Ventura counties . When the truck was hit by officers, the suspect refused to stop.

So far, It is unknown if the man is related to the food service company .

Officers chased the stolen unit up Highway 5 north through the San Fernando Valley, and then west along the 118 to Simi Valley.

Finally, the suspect stopped the truck on the Highway 55, near MacArthur Boulevard, in Santa Ana . The driver refused to leave the unit.

From 9: 17 am, the northbound lanes of Highway 5 were reopened to traffic, in so much so that the road to the south would be reopened a little later.

During much of the chase, the suspect drove the unit below the highway speed limit , around 50 to 60 miles per hour.

When the truck entered the Thousand Oaks area in Ventura County, a strip of spikes managed to puncture at least two truck tires .

Nine spike strips were used during the chase, but the subject did not stop his march despite the fact that several tires were completely d spoiled.
