Last week, Americans saw 3, 000 millions of minutes of the hit Netflix squid game according to data from the consulting firm Nielsen. Apparently some of those viewers were children who now ask their parents for Halloween costumes related to the Netflix series .

A study conducted this week has revealed that the costumes from the hit series are among the most popular looks to be tagged on Instagram .

A large number of the photos that are being published on the social network of the ‘Squid Game’ are of children dressed in the costumes of the Serie.

Netflix has rated the series for an adult audience , which means it is not suitable for children under 17 years.

The content warning at the beginning of the first episode of the series warns that it has “language, violence, sex, nudity, suicide and smoking”.

Dr. Craig Tice, the Superintendent of the Fayetteville-Manlius School District made the decision to ban Halloween costumes from the ‘Squid Game’ after staff noted that students imitate violent games from the show , according to a USA Today newspaper report.

“Some of our younger students are talking and mimicking aspects of the program / game at school, ”Tice said in a statement.

“Parents and guardians… have the opportunity to talk with their children about it and reinforce the school’s message that games associated with violent behavior are not appropriate for recess.”

In other school districts, minors are mimicking the series’ eliminations and deaths that represent violent play.

In addition to the United States, the authorities of Australia, Belgium and the United Kingdom have carried out some similar observations and have issued warnings to parents.

Concerns about costumes and imitation have led to the ‘Squid Game’ not the only recent controversy about the impact of Netflix content on the real world.

Earlier this month, comments focused on trans and LGBTQ + communities from Dave Chappelle on his latest Netflix special, The Closer, sparked criticism and protests by activists and supporters sparking a protest by Netflix employees in Los Angeles.
