General John Hyten , the second most important military post in the United States, assured that the rate at which the Chinese army is developing capabilities is “ staggering ”, while America’s defense performance suffers from a“ brutal ”bureaucracy.

Hyten made this comment at a meeting with defense reporting experts when talking about the recent launch of a hypersonic missile by China, with capacity to surround the earth , local media assure this Thursday.

The outgoing Vice President of the Joint Chiefs of Staff identified with the recent statements of the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, who considered China a “progressive threat”, while Russia continues to be the “most imminent” threat for the country.

“Qualifying China as a growing threat (in the military field) is a useful term, because the rate at which China is moving is amazing, ”Hyten opined.

For the military, the increasing level of development of the Chinese in defense “will soon overtake Russia and the United States if we don’t do something to change it. That will happen. So I think we have to do something, “he added.

” It’s not just the United States, but the United States and our allies because that’s what It really changes the game, ”Hyten added. “If it’s just the United States, it will be problematic (for the country) in five years. But if it’s about the United States and our allies, I think we can stay calm for a longer time. ”

Hyten’s comments are produce a week after a hypersonic test prepared by the United States failed and when tensions between Washington and Beijing increase due to the situation in Taiwan.

Hyten, who plans to leave his post of Vice President next November, he encouraged his successor, not yet appointed, to “focus” and move the Pentagon forward which, in his opinion, is still very bureaucratic, the media cite. The general previously held the position of commander of the United States Strategic Command, where he was responsible for the nation’s nuclear reserves and oversaw strategic threats against Washington.
