Tornadoes in the Southeastern US caused damage and left one person dead Thursday

The severe weather caused by the storm system that hit the East Coast and Gulf of the United States continues to do its thing. During Wednesday and Thursday, several tornadoes were reported in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida that left damage in several areas, some were already affected by last year’s hurricanes, leaving two injured and one deceased so far.

Even though more than a year has passed Since Hurricanes Delta and Laura affected Louisiana, hundreds of residents remain displaced and there are still houses under reconstruction . The bad weather this week did nothing more than sink its finger into the wound of the neighbors, who now see the recovery of some homes much further.

The Lake Charles office of the National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed three EF2 tornadoes in Calcasieu Parish on Wednesday.

A little further north in Mississippi, the NWS confirmed that one person died Thursday afternoon in Moss Point from a tornado. Also, another EF1 tornado was sighted in Picayune near the Interstate 59 also the Thursday.

On the other hand, in Texas, meteorological authorities confirmed that two EF2 tornadoes knocked down electric poles and destroyed several railings on the Interstate 10, just over 60 miles west of Lake Charles. Florida was not exempt from witnessing tornadoes late Thursday afternoon. The citizens of Kissimmee warned of the presence of two tornadoes and powerful wind gusts that spread towards the Gulf coast, uprooting trees by their roots and collapsing power lines in the area, but no injuries were reported until the moment.

Due to bad weather, Dallas-Forth Worth International Airport in Texas was forced to suspend more than 159 flights and delay another 1, 000 Thursday.
