They rescue 334 migrants who were in “overcrowding” inside a trailer in Mexico

The National Migration Institute (INM) rescued 334 migrants, among them minors, who traveled in a state of “overcrowding and vulnerability” inside a trailer in Mexico.

According to a statement from the agency moved “inside the box of a trailer with the company name of a cookie company.”

They explained that in coordination with members of The Ministerial Police, the Mexican Army and the National Guard at the Cosamaloapan checkpoint, in the state of Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave in Mexico, stopped the vehicle to carry out a routine check. At that moment they heard “screams and blows requesting help.”

The INM detailed that when opening the doors they were found 334 foreign people, many of them, with symptoms of suffocation, due to the heat, lack of ventilation and the overcrowding in which they were traveling inside the trailer bed.

The migrants were transferred to the Acayucan Migration Station, region of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in the state of Veracruz, to identify the nationality of origin and “provide them with food, drinking water and medical care ”, as stated.

The minors were under the protection of the System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF ) from Mexico. As for the driver, they explained that he was placed at the command of the ministerial authorities.
