Haitem Fathallah , Italian basketball player, died this Sunday after suffering a cardiac arrest during a match for his team, Fortitudo Messina , from Serie C Gold, from the third division of Italian basketball.
Fathallah died while he was attended by doctors at the Reggio Calabria hospital, located in the south of the European country.
The event was recorded in the third quarter of the game. The number 21 fell to the ground and was immobile , for which he was immediately attended to by his team personnel .
The game was interrupted and was transferred to the hospital , but the doctors did not have time to save him, as indicated by the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP).
Through a statement, the FIP assured: “The president of the FIP Giovanni Petrucci, on a personal level and interpreting the emotions of Italian basketball, embraces incredulous and shares the condolences of the Fathallah family on the death of Haitem , Fortitudo Messina player during the Serie C Gold match against Pierre RC ”
