Less than a week ago the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk went to London and beat the boxer Anthony Joshua in his own home the three-belt contest in the heavyweight division. Andy Ruiz , who already fought against the British , dared to give his vision of that fight.
It was a lawsuit that was defined by unanimous decision after the verdict of the judges . The cards showed: 117 – 112, 116 – 112 and 115-113 in favor of Ukraine’s puncher.
“It just stayed there. I don’t know why he didn’t move, like in the second fight with me. He ran and made sure they didn’t hit him, and if he did, he would grab him and move . So he had his strategy. But for this fight, it didn’t turn out the way he wanted ”, that’s how Ruiz saw Joshua in his last fight, in statements to FightHype.com .
Usyk managed to connect 148 punches in Joshua’s humanity and became the boxer with the most effective blows against the British. In total, he came with 25 clean hits more than ‘AJ’, several of them were indecipherable jabs by the new WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion.
“It was probably the wrong strategy. You probably underestimated it. Sort of like I did with Chris Arreola… I think Anthony Joshua is still there, still strong. I felt like I was scared and a bit repressed. Maybe it was Usyk’s left-handed style and how he moves ”, added the fighter of Mexican origin about Joshua’s strategy.
However, in February 2022 a rematch between Joshua and Usyk could take place on Ukrainian territory . The fighter from the United Kingdom has already executed a clause in the contract that allows him to request a second confrontation.
