Despite granting the same privilege, driver’s licenses and driver’s licenses in the United States are separated by several factors . First of all, there is the age, since each document requires a different regulatory age among its requirements. In this sense, licenses are obtained with the age of majority, while permits can be granted to minors. The ages, in turn, are determined by each state according to its laws.

The second factor is represented by the requirements for the application of each of these documents, which will also be different according to the state where the applicant resides:

1. Driver’s licenses, in addition to the required documentation, require that the adolescent prepare before obtaining greater privileges. In this sense, each applicant must complete a series of steps, among which the obtaining of a learner’s permit stands out, which will then allow them to be promoted to a driving license with fewer restrictions. During that time, the adolescent is expected not only to gain confidence as a driver, but to adopt good habits to stay out of the law. Driving licenses, also considered provisional licenses, also apply to those adults who do not have any experience behind the wheel. Whatever the case, the inexperienced driver must be accompanied by an adult with a valid license in the place where he drives .

2. Driver’s licenses, on the other hand, . vehicle by yourself while respecting the laws and using your skills to stay safe from potential accidents . On the privilege scale, driver’s licenses would be the next step for those teenagers or inexperienced drivers who have already had a learner’s permit.

A third factor also follows from these requirements : experience . An inexperienced driver – adolescent or adult – cannot apply for a driver’s license without first applying for a learner’s permit.

The fourth and last factor that makes the difference between a license and a driving license it is related to privileges . A standard driver’s license is an unrestricted authorization, at least in principle, before the driver can commit any infraction. Driving licenses, meanwhile, have certain restrictions among which, as already mentioned, the presence of an adult companion (parent or legal guardian) who is involved in the application process to grant authorization and times to record the performance of the inexperienced driver.
