Full cast confirmed for Super Mario Bros. animated film
The animated movie about the video game “Super Mario Bros”, which Nintendo is preparing with Universal Studios, will arrive to theaters at Christmas 2022.
Universal Studios advanced this Thursday the project, which will have a stellar voice cast in which Chris Pratt will play Super Mario, Charlie Day will play Luigi and Anya Taylor-Joy will be Princess Peach.
It will also add, in its English version, the participation of Keegan -Michael Key , Jack Black , Seth Rogen , Fred Armisen , Kevin Michael Richardson and Sebastian Maniscalco .
Nintendo describes this film as a ‘piece of entertainment that will carry’ Super Mario Bros’ to theaters for the enjoyment of everyone, whether they know the game or not. ”
Although the plot is unknown, it seems It will be that it will feature all the characters of the video game franchise such as Bowser, Donkey Kong, Toad and Spike.
It will be the second film about the popular plumber. Before, in 1993, “Super Mario Bros”, a film starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo who was a critical and box office failure but which over time has acquired a certain cult status.
At the moment , the new animated film is titled: “Super Mario Bros. Animated Film.”
Mario’s character appeared for the first time in 1981 within the Donkey Kong video game and since then the franchise has sold more than 500 millions of copies of its games, with which it has become the most successful in the history of videogames.
In addition, the saga includes other titles such as “Mario Kart” and “Mario Party”, comics, novels and even a public holiday, known as National Mario Day, which is celebrated every 10 of March.
