The Dixie Fire is about to reach one million acre s burned in California, so it would enter the record books.
For more than 60 days, the fire has scorched large territories in five California counties . As of Sunday night, Dixie had consumed 960, 335 acres .
The firefighters attacking the flames claim that the conflagration was contained in a 67%.
In just one week, the Dix fire ie has grown by 60, 000 acres.
If its development continues, Dixie could become a “gigafire”, a designation given to wildfires burning more than a million acres .
California had a his first “gigafire” in 2020 with the August Complex that swept 1, 032, 648 acres and burned more than 900 structures to become the largest fire in the state .
The August Complex fire started in August 2020 with a series of separate fires and eventually morphed into a gigantic disaster.
Residue evacuation warnings and orders entities are in effect in Plumas, Lassen and Shasta counties .
So far, Dixie ended up with 1, 329 structures, between residences, businesses and others.
