A group of workers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) filed a lawsuit in federal court this Saturday against the city in which they argue that the COVID vaccination mandate – 19 violates your rights.

The employee lawsuit challenged both the City of Los Angeles mandate and an alleged failure of the LAPD to provide the process for submitting both medical and religious waiver requests .

Among the plaintiffs are Department workers who recovered from the coronavirus disease and argue that they should be exempt from having to be vaccinated.

“Subject City workers to a new employment condition, that neither they nor the plaintiffs contemplated when they were hired, forces them to choose between their livelihood at a time of difficult economic situation at the national level and the preservation of their fundamental constitutional rights of privacy to control the disclosure of sensitive personal information “, was indicated in the complaint.

“The regulation also intends to shame, humiliate and deprive of liberty people who refuse to declare their vaccination status by requiring the plaintiff to treat them as unvaccinated and impose tests, use of masks and other punitive measures such as denial of promotions, transfers, appointments, etc. ”, the plaintiffs added.

Attorneys Daniel Watkins and Kevin Snider are the legal representatives of the workers.

In your lawsuit, the city of Los Angeles is named, Mayor Eric Garc etti, Police Chief Michel Moore and City Administrative Officer Matthew Szabo as the defendants.

The lawsuit asks the court to declare the vaccination ordinance illegal and to prevent it from applying it to the city of Los Angeles.

An LAPD official who requested anonymity mentioned to the media that the group of workers dissatisfied with the vaccination mandate could be increased to 3, 000 or more elements of all ranks, including civil servants.

On 18 August, the City Council Los Angeles authorized COVID vaccination mandate – 19 , which requires all current and upcoming municipal workers to be fully immunized, or they would have to apply for an exe approved medical or religious nation and to report their immunization status no later than 19 October.

The ordering also establishes that, from 20 October, having the coronavirus vaccine will be a condition for obtaining a job in the city unless there is an exemption.
