Colombians who operated for the Sinaloa Cartel and brought thousands of pounds of cocaine with narco-submarines to the United States

Six Colombian citizens pleaded guilty in the United States to conspiring to use narco-submarines in order to send more than 41, 1200 pounds of cocaine to the Sinaloa Cartel (CDS), reported the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.

This is Fernando Pineda Jiménez, alias the Godfather and head of the group, of 40 years; Luis Ernesto Pérez Quevedo, alias Acuerpado , from 45; Adrián Luna Muñoz, alias Vaca , from 45; Yesid Eduardo Torres Solís, alias Dog , from 40; Héctor Ruiz Angulo, alias Maestro , from 54, and Rodrigo Pineda Torres, alias el Gordo , from 53, the latter already sentenced to eleven years and three months.

The other five defendants face jail sentences of a minimum of 10 years and up to life imprisonment for each pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine .

According to a common icate of the , Jimmy Riascos Riascos was convicted in January of 2020 to 24 years and four months in prison for his participation in the same conspiracy and Alonso Pineda Torres, alias Galladita , is awaiting sentence.

All of them were part of a transnational criminal organization that sent ships semi-submarines and self-propelled from Colombia across the Pacific Ocean to the state of Oaxaca in Mexico, where they were collected by members of the Sinaloa cartel, according to documents

The defendants fulfilled different tasks, from supervising security in the places where were built narco-submarines to build the fiberglass hulls of those ships.

In July and August 2015 and March of 2016, in international waters, the United States intercepted three narco-submarines that had left Colombia and were heading to Mexico.

The first transported approximately 15, 211 pounds of cocaine, intercepted in August of 2015 carried approximately 15, 60 pounds of cocaine and March 2016 was wearing approximately 13, 839 pounds of cocaine.

In total, transported more than 41, 887 pounds of cocaine and a substantial portion of those shipments were ultimately destined for the United States.

Other narco-submarine, linked to Rodrigo Pineda Torres , was seized in October 2017 in Colombia before he could be loaded with cocaine.

This case was investigated by the Panama Express Strike Force, a permanent attack force of the Anti-Drug Task Force against Organized Crime (OCDETF) made up of agents and analysts from various agencies of the U.S. government.

The Office of International Affairs of the Department of Justice substantially assisted in the extradition of the accused to the United States, the statement said.
