A pregnant policewoman was killed by alleged Taliban on Saturday in front of her relatives in a house in Firozkoh, the capital of the central province of Ghor, in Afghanistan. Three armed men entered the residence, tied up everyone inside and then shot the victim to death, according to the BBC .
Banu Negar, as she is called in the local media, was eight months pregnant when the gunmen killed her by shooting her in the head . However, the Taliban also told the BBC that their group is not involved in what happened, but that they are doing their own investigation.
“We are aware of the incident and I am confirming that the Taliban have not killed her , our investigation is ongoing, ”said Zabiullah Mujaheed, Taliban spokesman. He also recalled that the group signed an amnesty for all the workers of the previous administration, of which Deny is part of working in a local prison.
The details of the incident are still vague, as many in Firozkoh fear reprisals if they speak out , witnesses told the BBC.
Since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan last 15 of August, the group has emphasized wanting to be more tolerant and with a better image. However, in recent weeks there have been other incidents that, supposedly, have been increasing according to organizations that defend human rights in the Arab country.
The son of Negar (police officer in Ghor who was killed today) in Hazaragi accent says:
1. Taliban entered our house
2. tied hands
3. killed my mother, gauged her brains from her skull with knife and screwdrivers
4. My mother was eight months pregnant
