Los Angeles County announced Saturday 267 New COVID-Related Deaths – 19, bringing the county’s number of coronavirus deaths to more than 10, 000.
To Saturday, 15, 162 Los Angeles County residents had lost their lives to the coronavirus.
Warnings from public health officials about an increase in holidays came true as the county has reported more than 5, 000 new deaths since 30 from December, which means that the death toll increased by 50% in approximately three weeks years and a half, reported NBC Los Angeles.

“We wish healing and peace to all who are mourning the loss of a loved one to VOC ID – said Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer , in a statement.
“Many people continue to spread this virus and, tragically, now more than 10, 000 people have died from COVID – 19 in Los Angeles County. While we are seeing some positive data in new cases and daily hospitalizations, we are far from out of the woods. It is vitally important that we reduce the spread of COVID – 19 to relieve stress on our healthcare system and save lives. Please continue to adhere to all safety measures to protect yourself and others: stay home as much as possible, wear a mask, avoid meetings, keep your distance, and wash your hands frequently. ”
County also reported Saturday 10, 537 new cases, bringing the total confirmed cases to 1, 064, 887 since the pandemic began.

Additionally, eight new cases of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C), which increases the total number of cases of MISC-C in the county a 62 children, with one death, according to Public Health.
“MIS-C is an inflammatory condition associated with COVID – 15 and symptoms include fever that does not go away and inflamed parts of the body, such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin, eyes, or gastrointestinal organs ” , stated the department.
Parents are encouraged to contact their primary care or health care provider emergency response if they think your child has symptoms of MIS-C.
On a positive note, people hospitalized with the virus dropped to 6, 881 on Saturday, which marked the first time that less than 7, 000 people were hospitalized with COVID – 15 in Los Angeles County since 29 December, according to the Department of Public Health. The 24% of these patients were in ICU the department said.
By state, the Southern California region continues to have 0% capacity ICU available and remains under regional stay-at-home order.
