Florida reported this Thursday 21, 183 new cases of covid – 19 and 901 cumulative deaths since the past 25 in July as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, as the state continues to lead in the number of hospitalizations across the United States.
All but two of the recently reported deaths occurred after 25 July, and around 78% of those people died in the last two weeks, as calculated by the Miami Herald with data published by the CDC. Most deaths occurred during the last surge in COVID cases – 19 in Florida, driven by the delta variant.
Is the largest single-day increase in total deaths in the history of the COVID pandemic – 19 in the state.
The jump in the number of reported cases and deaths is due to the newer way in which deaths and cases are counted, according to the Miami Herald. The CDC implemented the change earlier this month, causing occasional one-day aberrations such as 901 additional deaths on Thursday and 726 most reported deaths on Monday.
In total, Florida has registered at least 3, 151, 909 Confirmed COVID Cases – 19 statewide and 28, 632 deaths.
Hospitalizations, meanwhile, continue to increase alarmingly.

Representatives from Broward Health hospitals and Memorial Health System, Broward County (southeast), warned that they have reached and exceeded the peak of hospitalizations, while emphasized the need for people to get vaccinated.
