The organizers of the New York International Auto Show canceled the event on Wednesday due to concerns about the delta variant of the coronavirus and the increase in security measures.

The cancellation occurs one day after New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio imposed vaccination in a series of enclosures beginning on 16 of August.

If you want to participate in society fully, you’ve got to get vaccinated. It’s time.

You’ll need proof of # COVID 19 vaccination for indoor dining, indoor gyms, and indoor concerts and performances in New York City. This is a lifesaving mandate to keep our city safe. https://t.co/hIK 99 Z8M8A

The decision came suddenly after organizers last week unveiled the poster for the event titled “The Future is Bright.” This year’s show was supposed to have a special focus on electric vehicles .

The show was scheduled to open its doors to the public on 20 August as it had been postponed since April last year due to the global health crisis. It was the first time the exhibition had been rescheduled since World War II .

“As we began planning for the August Salon, we were increasingly excited about the prospect of hosting the event as the number of vaccinations in New York continued to increase and the use of masks reduced the spread in the city. All the signs were positive and the Hall was gaining more strength than ever, but today is a different story, “said Mark Schienberg, President of the Hall, through a statement.
