A 6.1 magnitude earthquake shook Peru and injured Peru

The National Institute of Civil Defense of Peru (Indeci) reported that an earthquake of 6.1 degrees on the Richter scale hit the northwest of the country this Friday, specifically the city de Sullana, in the Piura region, and has left behind more than 30 injured and 720 affected people.

The Regional Health Directorate (Diresa) has reported, through its Facebook profile, that so far more than 30 people have been injured , two seriously -one of them pregnant-, and eight establishments have been affected by the earthquake .

Indeci, for its part, has encrypted in m more than 180 the buildings that have suffered damage from the earthquake , according to the local newspaper El Comercio.

To the damages generated in infrastructures are also added the damages in a bridge, as well as 50 road meters and electric power system

To attend to the wounded, the Sectorial Emergency Operations Center (COES) of the Ministry of Health has installed a tent as an area of concentration of wounded at the Sullana II Support Hospital.

The earthquake has also received in the regions of Áncash, Amazonas, San Martín, Lambayeque, Cajamarca, as detailed by the Center for Prevention and Control for Emergencies and Disasters (CEPRECED).

The recently appointed president of the country, Pedro Castillo , has come to Sullana to coordinate the actions after the earthquake and has verified the damage.

Upon arrival in Sullana, The president has visited the support hospital to learn about the situation of those injured by the earthquake, and upon leaving, while touring the town of Jíbito, he has addressed those present.

“ Starting today we are going to go where the people need us. I ask you to have the greatest security of always being vigilant with the authorities. I ask the mayors to be next to the people, to the governors ”, he indicated, according to the local newspaper ‘Gestión’.
