Wentworth Miller , the actor who became famous thanks to his starring role in the television series “Prison break” , announced that he suffers from autism, which has been diagnosed for a long time.
In your account of Instagram , Miller, from 49 years, he wrote a long message accompanying a completely blank image: “Like everyone else, life in quarantine took things away from me. But in isolation, I found unexpected gifts. This fall marks a year since I received my informal diagnosis of autism. Preceded by a self-diagnosis. Followed by a formal diagnosis. ”
Wentworth acknowledged that he is a middle-aged man, and that access to a diagnosis is a privilege that many do not enjoy. Let’s say it was a shock. But not a surprise… I don’t know enough about autism. Right now, my work seems to evolve my understanding. ”
The actor was emphatic in stating that he does not want to become a spokesperson for the autistic community: “I don’t want to risk suddenly becoming a strong and misinformed voice… If anyone is interested in digging deeper into autism and neurodiversity, I can direct them to the many people who share very inspiring content on Instagram , TikTok … these creators (some quite young) discuss relevant topics with more knowledgeable and fluent than me (they have also been educating me) ”.
