Mexico sends the ship “Liberator” loaded with humanitarian aid to Cuba

The government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador began sending humanitarian aid to Cuba through two ships: the “Liberator” and the “Papaloapan.”

The ship “Liberator” of the Mexican Navy Secretariat set sail this morning from the port of Veracruz bound for the island of Cuba loaded with medicines, food and oxygen, confirmed President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

We made the decision to help and send food, oxygen and other medical teams. Today a ship leaves from Veracruz and tomorrow another with food and oxygen to help the people of Cuba, “said the Mexican president.

The boat was loaded for several days by elements of the Secretariat of the Navy, Army and National Guard. It was during his working tour of Veracruz when the Mexican president announced the dispatch of both vessels to the island.

Right now it’s medicines, oxygen, above all, and food. Yes, because they don’t have electricity for the hospitals, because they don’t have fuel, “said the president from the National Palace.

During the press conference, the Mexican president ruled out that the United States could retaliate against Mexico for sending this humanitarian aid to Cuba .

“Couldn’t this generate sanctions from the United States?”, The Tabasco president was questioned to which he replied “No, because we are a country independent, free, sovereign and we are acting that way “.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador revealed that he received a letter from the President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel in which he expressed the serious crisis the island is going through.

The second ship, the Papaloapan, is expected to set sail from Veracruz to the Cuban island between this Wednesday 27 and Thursday 29 July.
