In March, the Secretary of National Security, Alejandro Mayorkas , warned undocumented immigrants that the accelerated deportation processes for adults , including some families, but these had a “special” review, especially if they were traveling with children.
However, this Monday the government of the president Joe Biden determined the implementation of the deportation accelerated to family units that cannot be evicted under the so-called Title 21 , which applies for the health emergency due to the COVID pandemic – 19.
“Certain family units that cannot be evicted under the Title Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Monday night.
He added that this procedure operates for those who have no legal basis to stay in the US, that is, the laws immigration authorities would not provide them with any type of protection, without giving details about the process.
“Expedited deportation provides a legal and expedited procedure to remove those family units that do not have a basis under US law to be in the United States” , indicates.
DHS warned immigrants about the insecurity of traveling to the United States and the risk of being deported immediately after crossing the border as undocumented.
“Attempting to cross into the United States outside of ports of entry or circumventing inspection at ports of entry is the wrong way to get to the United States,” DHS noted. “These acts are dangerous and can have long-term immigration consequences for people who try to do so.”
Lawyers have explained to this newspaper that the entry of a person as undocumented complicates any legal immigration process , because when applying for a “green card”, the officials question the foreigners how they arrived in the country.
The decision of the Biden Administration follows the recent report of which 1.2 million have arrived at the border and had some contact with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents , but just over a million were expelled over the course of the fiscal year 2021, which ends in September.
Total 751,844 persons have been expelled under the Title 42 and 324, 398 based on Title 8, which indicates that an alien does not comply with the asylum petition guidelines.
The arrival of complete families has tripled with respect to the fiscal year 2020, when CBP reported the cases of 74, 960 units against the 247, 418 of the current period.
The Biden Administration justified its new actions as part of the reordering of the immigration system.
“(They) are working to build a safe, orderly and humane immigration system,” he says. “The Department of Homeland Security continues to take various steps to improve legal processing at ports of entry and reforms to strengthen the asylum system.”
