A restaurant in Georgia announced that it will only serve customers who are fully vaccinated, which means that it joins the policy of other commercial places that have decided to advertise at the entrance of their premises “No vaccine, No service.”

As you can read on the sign on the door of the premises, the The idea of this regulation is to keep the staff and customers of the commercial premises “safe”.

Particularly in this restaurant, the owner has explained that what led him to make this decision was that he and three of his employees tested positive for COVID – 19 a week ago, despite being all fully vaccinated.

One of your Strong arguments, in the face of possible criticism, is that your business is private and it is your obligation to take measures to p protect your employees.

“It is a matter of quality of life and safety for my staff and my clients. It is a private and small business and I have to do what I consider right to protect the people who depend on me for a living ”, emphasized Armando Calentano, co-owner of the Argosy restaurant in the city of Atlanta.

According to statistics, in Georgia only a 38% of the population are fully vaccinated. But this percentage of people 100% vaccinated are not totally immune due to the new variants of the virus, in addition to the level of contagion that the “unvaccinated” have.

Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has already been emphatic in which the vaccine does not protect the 100%, but if it prevents new infections from ending in complications and hospitalizations or worse death.

This case of requiring the vaccine to provide service to an indi viduo is not isolated, in some states of the United States it was already happening. For example, in the state of New York they began to see signs in commercial businesses in the style of: “No shoes, no shirt, no vax,” and although it was criticized by many customers, apparently every owner is in his right.

“These are constitutional rights and constitutional limitations,” explained Leslie Silva, a New York lawyer consulted in similar cases. And he emphasized that “It is about the rights of individuals, the limitations of the government and what a private company can do. And a private company has the right to say that you have to be vaccinated before we give you goods or services ”.

In this sense, in the governmental sphere there are conflicting opinions, for example, New Yprk Governor Andrew Cuomo even spoke of the fact that in open spaces such as stadiums, concert halls or similar venues, the possibility of establishing places for people 100% vaccinated. While Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, considers it “unacceptable” that the vaccine is required to enter public places, a controversy that occurred before the start of cruise activities.

DeSantis’s statements came after the Florida government won a lawsuit before a federal judge against the imposition of rules against COVID – 19.

We will see if this type of “regulations” will encourage more people to get vaccinated to try to adapt to the ” new normal ”.
