7 dead in massive sandstorm that caused chain crash in Utah

This Sunday night a massive sand storm was registered that hit some places in the state of Utah, which caused 7 people to lose their life and several others were seriously injured.

The massive sandstorm took place mainly on Highway I – 15, near the town of Kanosh, about 250 miles southwest of Salt Lake City, as explained by the UTAH Department of Public Service (DPS), via a press release.

The sandstorm was recorded with wind gusts of 51 miles (82 miles) per hour.

In a statement it also indicated that about a score of vehicles passing through the place was involved in a multiple collision, after the strong winds raised a large amount of sand op Olvo, same that affected the visibility on the road.

Quickly , local authorities contacted the Utah Highway Patrol called in agents from Richfield and Beaver to help; several ambulances, both ground and area, joined the rescue efforts and soon transferred the injured to hospitals.

Unfortunately, some people had already died at the scene, while others were injured are currently reported in critical condition.

In fact, several local media as well as social networks have shown various images of the balance left by said sandstorm, where Severely damaged cars and cargo trucks can clearly be seen along several meters of road.

The names of the victims will not be released until their families have been notified, according to the statement. Several children are among the deceased.
