Auckland City, champion of Oceania, withdraws from the Club World Cup due to quarantine in New Zealand

The FIFA announced this Friday that Auckland City has informed them that will not be able to participate in the next edition of the Club World Cup due to the pandemic of coronavirus and the mandatory quarantine established by the authorities of his country New Zealand.

In a statement, FIFA explained that during the last days it has been in permanent contact with the club , with the New Zealand Football Federation and with the Oceania Confederation (OFC) and that “however, the measures established by the New Zealand authorities, isolation and quarantine, prevail over the stipulations of FIFA in the matter, so it was impossible to find a satisfactory solution “.

The FIFA Club World Cup 2020 will be held from 1 to 11 next February in Qatar and after the withdrawal of Auckland City the tournament will stop counting co n a first round , so the local Al Duhail will debut in the second.
