The infections of coronavirus in Los Angeles County , the most populous in the United States, continue to rise amid concerns over the variant Delta , which has forced health authorities to impose the use of masks indoors.
The Los Angeles Department of Health reported this Friday that in the last 24 hours were recorded 3, 058 positive cases (the first time that are recorded above 3, cases since 13 February) , 291 cases more than
Health officials warned that there has been an increase of 80% in cases since last week.
Last Sunday the new order requiring county residents to wear masks indoors , regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not, in an attempt to stop the infections.
Of the recent cases, around the 84% are due to the highly contagious Delta variant , detailed the authorities, who are making a new call to comply with the order of the use of masks indoors and to be vaccinated.

Bárbara Ferrer, director of the Los Angeles Department of Public Health, highlighted in a statement that the Delta variant “is more easily transmitted between people, more than other worrisome variants”, and that those who are vaccinated are less likely to develop a severe form of the disease if
Hospitalized patients with the virus add 655 in the county. This Friday, 7 deaths related to COVID were reported – 19, and a day before they had passed away 13 people for this cause.
Throughout California, infections are also on the rise and in the last day there were 7, 984 infections . Meanwhile, 2, 880 people are hospitalized, a figure that includes those who are in hospitals in Los Angeles.
California Governor Gavin Newsom told a news conference Tuesday that “this is a pandemic of unvaccinated” .
“So if you mind getting back to normal once and for all, get vaccinated,” he added.
