HOUSTON – It’s the end of an era for one of Houston’s largest taxi service companies.
Yellow Cab Houston announced that it has decided to file for bankruptcy and that He is currently in negotiation talks with the company zTrip, a more modern transportation company, to sell the company.
“The last four years have battered the taxi industry . Unregulated competition and the pandemic have combined to create an unsustainable environment for our company, ”Yellow Cab stated in a press release.
Bankruptcy includes Texas Taxi, Yellow Cab and Fiesta operations Cab in Austin and San Antonio.
zTrip is essentially the taxi industry’s answer to Uber and Lyft. The zTrip company application is sponsored by Transdev, which operates taxi and limousine services.

“After 54 years the The city of Houston says goodbye to the original Yellow Cab and we entrust zTrip with our base to continue offering residents safe and quality services, ”the statement added.
