An alleged email from Costco announces the closure of its photography area and the store has not denied.

In different media of communication such as CNN and Meter , among others, it has been announced that Costco has sent an email to its clients to let them know that will close its photography department worldwide as of 14 February 2021 .

The argument is that before the rise of smartphones , social networks and the exchange of digital photographs the photography area has come in disuse .

“Since the introduction of camera phones and social networks , the need to print photos has drastically decreased , although the amount of photographs taken continues to grow ”, says the corr eo from Costco.

Add that “ After careful consideration , we have determined that the continued decline in prints no longer requires the printing of photographs on the site. ”

The alleged Costco mail clarifies that will continue to offer photo printing services “Digital technologies allow consumers to do more with their photos , including the ability to customize canvases, metal and acrylic prints , or create photo albums, stationery, calendars and other gifts . We will continue to deliver these high quality products and prints to your home or business via the Costco Photo Center ”.

Services like home movie video transfer , passport photo, photo restoration and ink cartridge refill services will also not be available in stores .

The mail recommends all Costco members to pick up pending work before 28 March .

Before the mass dissemination of this announcement Costco has not issued any official statement and has not responded to messages before of this post .
