Tigres will start season on the wrong foot due to COVID-19 outbreak

The debut of Club Tigres in the Apertura Tournament 2021 of the Liga MX will be clouded by d new major fouls due to a new coronavirus outbreak in the team.

In a statement published on social networks, Tigres reported that Colombian midfielder Luis Quiñones and his pair David Ayala were positive for COVID – 19 in the last tests carried out at the campus.

Those from the academy will start the campaign with six casualties, five of them corresponding to players from the eleventh title r by strategist Miguel Herrera.

In the letter the club indicated: “ Of all the tests carried out, only two of them yielded positive results , Luis Quiñones and David Ayala, therefore, According to the Liga MX protocol, they were sent home to begin their recovery process. ”

The first game of Tigres will take place next Sunday against the Xolos de Tijuana at 22: 00 hours ET, which represents Herrera’s first game with the reins of the club.

The confirmed casualties so far are: André-Pierre Gignac and Florian Thauvin , who traveled to Tokyo to dispute the Olympics: Luis “Chaka” Rodríguez and Carlos Salcedo , who play the Gold Cup with El Tri; and Ayala and Quiñones , infected by COVID – 19.
