Impossible Foods plans to launch plant-based chicken nuggets this fall in the United States. The nuggets will launch first in restaurants and shortly after will be in retail stores.

The company will unveil the new product to US carriers at a trade show next week as reported by Bloomberg.

Impossible Foods’ new product is made with textured soy protein and sunflower oil “to replicate the nugget’s bite and greasy mouthfeel.”

Impossible Food describes its chicken nuggets as having a exterior of breadcrumbs crispy and golden ; a juicy, white and fleshy interior. With 12 g per serving of 100 g, do not contain cholesterol and contain a 80% less saturated fat and a 25% less sodium than chicken nuggets of animal origin.

The nuggets do not include heme , the controversial ingredient in their burgers that makes the meat taste like meat and also makes it appear to bleed. Impossible Foods heme is made by fermenting transgenic yeast . The use of heme was not necessary for the nuggets since it is a white meat product.

The nuggets could also arrive in the future to schools. Impossible Foods announced in May that obtained the infant nutrition labels for the Impossible Burger, thereby allowing you to enter the Market K – 12 in autumn of this 2021

Another great competitor of meat alternatives, Beyond Meat has been ahead of its rival , launching at the beginning of this July chicken tenders in US restaurants. It is offering in the Beyond Chicken Tenders which are like the traditional breaded chicken fillets . Furthermore, also has just launched the Orange Chicken in exclusive collaboration with Panda Express , available only in American Chinese food chain restaurants.

Chicken is overtaking beef as the top choice for American meat. Also preferences for herbal alternatives are on the rise. Which has even made restaurants expand their offerings of such products.

Plant-based chicken alternatives grew, substitutes that shipped to U.S. commercial restaurants increased by 15% by volume compared to 2020, according to SupplyTrack of NPD Group.

This new Impossible Foods’ alternative to chicken meat comes at just the time when there is a great demand for chicken in the United States, white meat has become more expensive in the last year. There have been distribution problems and in response, fast food chains would even be considering start selling and promoting dark chicken meat as a way to fix the situation.
