Mark Hoppus has cancer and now gave more details about his disease . The musician and member of Blink – 182 revealed at the end of June that he was receiving treatment for his disease, however he had not spoken about the type of cancer it was.
The 49 year producer shared his experience in a Q&A session and answers with his fans on Twitch. That was where he finally opened up about the illness that afflicts him and the medical panorama that awaits him in the following months.
“ I have diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. My classification is stage IV-A , which means, as I understand it, that it has entered four parts of my body “, declared the bassist.
“I don’t know how exactly they determine the four parts, but it has entered enough parts of my body to be in state IV,” he added, “which I think is the highest you can go.
“So, I am in stage IV-A… Cancer is not related to bones, but with blood. My blood is trying to kill me ”.
These last weeks the musician has been undergoing intensive chemotherapy and said it was a very aggressive treatment. “In the first chemo, I felt like a zombie that fell into an electric fence and received a shock,” he described to his followers. “ In the second round of chemo, I felt very weak and tired. Really, it was like the worst flu ever . In the third round of chemotherapy, I started gagging. Nausea and all that. ”
In early July, Mark shared a photo where he was seen without hair, a product of chemotherapy. “Whoever has cancer wishes you all a happy 4th of July,” he jokingly wrote. In the comments, his followers wished him well and told him that he will overcome this difficult stage.
Was the 23 June that the bassist revealed he was suffering from cancer . “I have cancer, it sucks and I am scared,” he wrote in a message. “At the same time I feel blessed with amazing doctors, family and friends who will help me get through this.”
In the image that accompanied the message and shared in his stories, he was seen sitting in a hospital room, receiving his treatment. Mark revealed that he had been undergoing chemotherapies to combat the disease.
