Space Jam: A New Legacy was released in theaters, however its director is already thinking about the third installment . Malcolm D. Lee is considering a possible sequel with Dwayne Johnson as the lead.
The news came in an interview with Entertainment Weekly , there the director did not rule out the possibility of continuing with the Looney Tunes franchise with the star of the WWE world. “It would be different. I’m not exactly sure what his abilities would be, maybe he’ll go back to wrestling. That could be interesting ”, he assured.
The director thinks that the universe of cartoons could now have a WWE match and that’s where The Rock would come in.
The truth is that this would not be far from the first ideas that were had when the second part of the film starring Michael Jordan was just being conceived. At first they considered Tiger Woods, Jeff Gordon and even Tony Hawk as leaders of the story , all of them in their respective sports.
This means that the Looney Tunes may not have played basketball again and joined other disciplines.
The truth is that this time they bet on nostalgia and continued along the basketball line, however, now that the director has put the cards on the table and There are already some positive reactions from the fans, nothing rules out the possibility that in a third installment (if it were to be carried out) the Looney could be seen Tunes next to Dwayne Johnson.
This Friday 16 July premiered Space Jam: A New Legacy , 25 years after the release of the original. The film will be available in theaters, however fans will also be able to enjoy it through the HBO Max streaming platform , which made its debut this year. The premiere of the second part of Space Jam will come for free with the subscription to HBO Max.
