Los Angeles County health authorities announced Thursday that the use of a face mask again will be required for all in closed public places due to the rise in coronavirus cases.
The new mandate will go into effect this Saturday 17 July at 11: 59 pm and additional measures are not ruled out if the trend in infections continues.
Use mask indoors like stores, restaurants and offices was just a recommendation since the county and state economic reopening last month.
California also announced the 17 June that fully vaccinated workers in the state could stop using the ma scarilla in their workplaces , including indoors. But that changes now.
Wearing a mask indoors with others reduces the risk of both getting & transmitting the virus. In the last week a marked increase in cases in the most populous county in the country , with an average of more than 1, 000 per day. A health official said during the announcement of the mandate that this Thursday were reported 1, 537 new cases .
Many people in Los Angeles have stopped using the mask completely, including indoors, a bad practice considering that there are millions of people not vaccinated.
Until last report , have been managed 10. 7 million doses of COVID vaccine – 19 in Los Angeles County , of which 5.9 million were from the first dose , 4.7 million of the second and 425, 000 of Johnson’s single dose & Johnson.
In total, 5, 61, 109 Angelenos have been fully vaccinated, which represents a 61% of residents.
The rise has been especially worrying due to the presence of the new Delta variant of the coronavirus. And there have been many cases of COVID infections – 19 even in vaccinated people .
