In the state of Chiapas, a group of armed civilians challenged the Government and created a self-defense bloc before the advance of organized crime specifically of drug traffickers in the municipality of Pantelhó .
“El Machete”, as the group calls itself , ventured into that town of the Altos de Chiapas to expel criminals who have extended their power in the region and protect the population.

“Today our people are for the new ‘Goliath’, who are drug traffickers, hitmen , organized crime, but we are the new ‘David’, who defends his people “, he expressed in a statement.
” El Machete ”arrived last Wednesday in this town, presumably to remove the hitmen and drug traffickers who have caused the deaths of campesinos Tzeltales and Tzotziles .
The group reported that they were leaving the town and warned the Mexican government that will not send the National Guard, the Army or the Police .
“We, as the people’s self-defense groups, withdrew because we were not looking for power or money. For us, once the town of Pantelhó is free, we leave it in the hands of the agents and commissioners of each community to choose their authorities from our uses and customs, “he said.
” If we see that they send (federal forces) to kill us and arrest us, to imprison us, is because they are part of organized crime, it is because it is confirmed that we have a narco-government, a narco-state “.
The self-defense group reproached that for 20 years began his suffering with the presence of organized crime.
“But it was in the 2002 when Mr. Austroberto Herrera Abarca wanted to appoint himself to be a municipal judge of Pantelhó. Austroberto opened the doors to organized crime, to drug traffickers, and thus began to kill all those who oppose their activities, “he said.
“We see that he has killed an approximate of 200 people. And at first we denounced, but the Public Ministry never took our complaints into account and some colleagues were assassinated for denouncing the violence that we are experiencing. ”
The group denounced that Herrera Abarca, as well as Delys Jannet Flores Velasco, current municipal president of Pantelhó, and Raquel Trujano Morales , elected mayor of the municipality, are part of the drug traffickers.
