Six Target stores in the San Francisco area will change their hours due to the increase in crime in the city.
Branches now will close at 6pm instead of 10 at night due to concerns about the safety of its customers and the increase in thefts.
“For more than a month, we are experiencing a significant increase and alarming theft and security incidents at our San Francisco stores , similar to reports from other area retailers. Target is engaging local law enforcement, elected officials, and community partners to address our concerns, ”the retail chain said in a statement Friday.
“For the safety of our clients, members team and communities as our top priority, we have temporarily reduced our hours of operation at six San Francisco stores. ”
Also the chain of Walgreens pharmacies will close stores in the area in response to an increase in thefts, as announced in March.

In San Francisco Car thefts have skyrocketed by up to 700% in some areas according to police data while home burglaries and arson have also increased dramatically during the .
A survey conducted by the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce mentions that the 40% of residents plan to leave the city during the next few years and 8 each 10 believe that crime has worsened in the city that is causing a decrease in the quality of life of its residents.
