It has been reported the death of the writer Delia Fiallo . The well-known “mother of the novel” died at 96 years, according to the Televisa portal, Las Estrellas .

It was Fiallo’s own daughter who confirmed the news of her death by reporting that “she died in peace and surrounded by her loved ones.” Until now, no more details have been given about the cause of death.

Delia leaves a great legacy in the world of soap operas. Televisa had the rights to the original works of the Cuban

and of which he made adaptations over the years.

“El Privilegio de Amar”, telenovela starring Adela Noriega and René Strickler was one of the great classics in Mexico that was based on “Cristal”. The latest version of this story was made in the 2010 with “Triunfo del Amor” starring Maite Perroni and William Levy.

Another success of Fiallo was “Esmeralda” that Televisa adapted into 1997 with Leticia Calderón . In the 2010 a new version called “Sin Tu Mirada ”with Claudia Martín and Osvaldo de León.

In 1974, Fiallo made a telenovela for Venezuela called “A Girl Called Milagros” that Televisa adapted in the 2008 as “Care With The Angel” with Maite Perroni and William Levy.

Other titles based on Fiallo classics include “La Que No Could Amar”, “Mariana de la Noche”, “Un Refugio Para El Amor” and “Luz María”.
