The partial collapse of the Champlain Towers building in Miami Beach has left so far one dead and 51 missing people.

According to statements from a county source to the local channel of the CBS chain, it is more than ten hours without knowing of the missing persons after the collapse of the building located in Surfside, north of Miami Beach.

In social networks and WhatsApp circulate the exact moment of the collapse of the condominium of 12 floors. So far only one person has been officially confirmed dead that was pulled from the rubble during the early morning by the emergency services.

Ten people were treated at the scene, two were transported to hospitals and 35 rescued by the balconies of the building, according to official sources.

Sources from the Argentine Foreign Ministry confirmed in Buenos Aires to the Efe agency that there are four Argentines who are missing after the collapse, as has been learned by people who knew they were in that building and have not been able to contact them.

Rescue teams work in the rain in search of people at shaved among the rubble of the building, which partially collapsed in the middle of the night while its occupants slept, for reasons not yet determined.

In just seconds 55 units of the Champlain Towers building, located in the predominantly Jewish town of Surfside, fell apart like “pancakes” , in the words of Surfside Mayor Charles Burckett.
