With Tito Nieves there is always a party

Tito Nieves is a whirlwind of happiness, no matter how convulsed the world is.

And it does not matter that for this appointment he had than to cancel his nap, a habit he has had for 35 years.

“I never turn down an interview because that is how I communicate with my audience”, said the 62 year-old singer in a recent conversation.

The pretext was “Fiesta”, a song that he recently premiered and that he decided to record because it had the emotion a little low. In addition to the thousand negative things that were happening in the world, one of its musicians died of covid.

“It touched me closely,” he lamented.

So when they proposed the song to him, he didn’t think twice, and invited the Dominican singer –also from salsa– David Kada, to record it. A few months ago, the pair did their thing on the beaches of Orlando, where they filmed the video.

“Poor David, we made him get up early and he doesn’t like it,” Tito revealed , who unlike his colleague, loves to get up early and walk around his Miami neighborhood to admire nature. “Of course, we work fifteen or twenty minutes and chat for more than twenty hours.”

“Party”, however, not only speaks of celebration, but also of being well, to have peace in oneself, said the interpreter.

“What was seen in the Capitol , what was seen in most of our countries [con la pandemia], politics, racism, abuse, “said the artist from Puerto Rico. “What we need now, what is necessary now is to transmit peace, and that is what I wanted with this song.”

This is not the only project that Tito has among hands. He is preparing another single, the cover of “En esa no”, by Sin Bandera, and two songs by Ricardo Arjona, as well as an unpublished cut. And now the modality is to release song by song, instead of albums.

“It’s better, because that way I stay relevant,” he said, although “it took me a lot to get used to this thing. ”

It will also be seen on his Facebook wall in a new facet: in the kitchen. But that does not mean that he will be the one to put on the apron to prepare delicious dishes. He does not cook, who will do it will be his wife Janette Figueroa.

“What happens is that I will put the sauce and she the flavor,” said Tito between another thousand laughs that was thrown during the conversation. “In the kitchen you will see the chemistry we have; she does cook. ”

And when he is not between dishes, the artist will be offering concerts, because he is ready to do it. In fact, he has already had several performances in Florida and these days he will travel to Colombia; then he will go to New York and California.

Of course he will go to all these places armed with his “Fiesta”.
