Abuses of passengers on flights have become so common that this Monday different airlines have begged the Department of Justice to investigate and punish the most serious cases.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has received more than 3, 000 passenger indiscipline reports , of which 2, 300 corresponds to people who have refused to wear a mask while traveling.

Paul Hartshorn, spokesman for the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, said in an interview with CNBC that the situation he’s out of control. “It’s getting to a point where we have to defend ourselves.”

Incidents

In May American Airlines and Southwest took action on the matter and decided to close their service of alcoholic beverages on the flights in an effort to stop a wave of indiscipline and violence from passengers after flight attendants have received from insults to blows from some travelers.

The policy went into effect by both airlines after A flight attendant was attacked by a female passenger during a Southwest Airlines flight from Sacramento to San Diego and lost two teeth after the assault by a passenger who after being arrested had to pay a deposit of $ 29, 000 dollars and has also been banned from flying for life on the airline .

No one is sure of the increase in aggressions in airlines but experts point out that the anxiety caused by the pandemic and the politicization of the use of masks could be the main origins of this uncontrolled behavior.
