A friendly match did not have a friendly outcome at all . Before the victory of United States 4-0 over Costa Rica , the Costa Rican Football Federation (Fedefutbol) , decided to dismiss Ronald González from his position as national coach.

“Los Ticos” reached 11 matches without being able to know the victory . This negative streak caused the Federation to take action on the matter and finalized a project that showed no signs of improvement in the last matches.

“The Executive Committee of the Federation, unanimously, together with the Sports Directorate, has made the decision to separate Ronald González as coach of our largest selection ”, expressed Rodolfo Villalobos, president of Fedefutbol.

Finally, the president de la Federación thanked González for his work with the national team. “ His work, dedication, discipline and love for the shirt ”, were the words with which he described the management of the former footballer.

Ronald González did not get the course

Former player assumed the technical direction of Costa Rica in 2019 . Since his arrival, González was only able to direct 14 matches , but in this period their balance was very negative. “La Sele” tied 7 games, lost 6 and only won 1 with Ronald at the helm .

A Mexican could direct to “Los Ticos”

A few days before the start of the Gold Cup , Costa Rica is left without a coach. This represents a fight against time in search of a new project. The Federation announced the holding of a extraordinary meeting in which they will discuss the point of the possible successor. Faced with this vacancy, comes the name of the former coach of the León Club, Ignacio “Nacho” Ambriz .
