Historic: Brazil has never lost a Copa América at home


It is also the first country to host South American competition for two consecutive editions

After the cancellation of Colombia Y Argentina as headquarters of the America Cup 2021 , Conmebol announced that Brazil will host the competition that is scheduled to start the next 13 of June.

It is the sixth time that the South American country has hosted , and in all these editions has ended up being champion of the Cup , what with pours into a rather uncomfortable host for the rest of the competitors.

Another data to highlight is that Brazil is the first nation to repeat as host of the Cup America for two consecutive editions , in the 97 years of the competition.

In 1919 the selection verdeamarela se crowned champion by beating Uruguay 1-0, in what would be the first Copa América held in Brazil.

On 1949 did it again. In this case, by beating Paraguay 3-0, in a league that was played to resolve the triple tie that was generated in the standings. After a controversial referee, Uruguay resigned from the competition and Canrinha faced the Paraguayan team, becoming champion.
