Cocaine packages found dumped on beaches in greater Houston area

TEXAS – The authorities of Matagorda County reported that they have found packages of cocaine dumped on several beaches in the area.

According to the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office, some people reported seeing packages dumped in different sectors of the Matagorda coast . Upon investigation, officers discovered it was cocaine.

Matagorda County is located 60 miles south of Houston.

The first packages began to appear on Sunday 16 in May at Matagorda Beach and a second package turned up five days later in Sargent Beach.

The packages have been processed by officers and stored for use as evidence. They will eventually be destroyed. Investigators said each package weighs about 2.2 pounds.

Authorities have determined the origin of the drug and are warning residents not to pick up packages if they find any on the beach.

“Please do not pick up suspicious packages, they probably contain dangerous substances,” posted the sheriff’s office on Facebook.

It was reported that the Coast Guard from the United States has joined the investigation.
