TEXAS – A Hispanic Uber driver has been charged with sexually assaulting a young woman from 15 years while traveling in the Houston area.
According to court documents, Leonel Medina, 49, faces two charges of sexual assault of a under 17 years .
Investigators said last week a teenager requested an Uber to be taken to a Family Dollar store.
Medina picked up the young woman and began to head in the direction of a neighborhood and eventually to an isolated area.
Upon reaching a dead-end street Medina He demanded that the girl cancel the trip . The driver jumped into the back seat and began to try to touch the passenger, who was trying to get out of the vehicle.
The young woman could not get out and Medina sexually assaulted her , then he took her home.
In an interview with investigators, Medina admitted to having sexually assaulted the minor. An arrest warrant was issued for Medina on Wednesday.
In a statement, Uber said they have removed the driver from the system and are at the disposal of the authorities to assist in the investigation.
