A new success story of Hispanic students has appeared in the South from California, after a high school girl daughter of Mexican immigrants received the acceptance of the Harvard University , the most prestigious in the United States.

The entire family of Azul Marmolejo, whose family emigrated from Tijuana, went crazy in front of a laptop in their home in San Diego when they learned the great news of Harvard , which is a dream come true for the young student.

“We open the email and it said, ‘Congratulations.’ At that moment we all started to celebrate, “said Azul in a interview with the local channel Telemundo 20 . “It is an emotion that is difficult to explain, it is an emotion that I have never felt in my life.”

She has the goal of becoming a cardiologist and also plans to return home and create a non-profit organization that offers medical services to migrants on both sides of the border.

Azul, a student at Southwest High School, said that her grandmother is her biggest inspiration and that is why she wants to help patients as in other times could have been his grandmother “who perhaps suffered from social, cultural and economic barriers” .

According to the Telemundo / NBC report, another student from an immigrant family from San Diego will accompany Azul to Harvard. This is Thang Ho, who emigrated from Vietnam. He will study computer science and psychology.

Both students received the support of the organization First Gen Scholars whose mission is to encourage local students who seek to be the first in their families to attend the college .

Both got full scholarships at Harvard and are now preparing to travel in the summer to Boston and start this new chapter of their lives.
