America paid tribute to the victims of the accident on Line 12 of the CDMX metro


The Eagles of Argentine coach Santiago Solari planned to hold a minute of silence in memory of the people who died after the tragedy. Portland Timbers joined this action after it was communicated to them

Prior to the commitment between the Águilas del América and Portland Timbers , a heartfelt tribute was held in a minute of silence, dedicated to the victims of the accident that occurred in the Line 12 from the Mexico City metro . The event was developed at the Azteca stadium, just before the start of the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions League.

According to information from ESPN, the azulcrema team had planned this tribute in advance. The American team, after being informed of what they had planned, joined the proposal without any problem and thus show a gesture of solidarity in the face of the tragedy that generated fatal losses.

Days before the match, the coach of the Eagles, Santiago Solari , expressed his condolences just before starting the respective press conference that was framed within the duel of the continental competition. “ I would like to leave my condolences and the entire team to the victims and, relatives of the victims, of the tragic episode in Mexico City. It seems to me that it is good to start there, giving condolences on behalf of the entire club América ”, said the Argentine coach.

On the other hand, the club, through its official account on the social network Twitter, regretted what happened and expressed its total solidarity with the people affected by the incident. “Club América regrets the events that took place in Tláhuac. ”, read the brief statement.
