Luigi Mangione charged with first-degree murder in death of Brian Thompson

Just a few days after his arrest, at a McDonald’s in the town of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Luigi Mangione was formally accused of first degree murder for the death of UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson.

The above was announced by the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Braggwho also added two counts of second-degree murder, one of which was classified as an act of “terrorism”.

In his appearance before the media, bragg described the crime as Mangione as a “terrifying, well-planned and targeted murder,” in addition to revealing that this action threatened the safety of local residents and tourists alike.

This was a terrifying, well-planned and directed murder that was intended to cause shock, attention and intimidation. “It occurred in one of the busiest parts of our city, threatening the safety of local residents and tourists alike, travelers and businesspeople just starting their day.”

What will happen to Luigi Mangione?

In the same appearance, bragg also mentioned that Mangionewho directly attacked Thompson outside a hotel in manhattan on December 4, houses two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon as well as one count of criminal possession of a second degree of a forged instrument.

Regarding the classification of one of the charges, classified as an act of “terrorism,” the Manhattan District Attorney revealed that the name is justified because the murderer was “intended to evoke terror.”

In the same appearance, Jessica TischNew York City Police Commissioner, revealed that the accusation against Mangione has helped bring justice to Thompson and his family.

This was a senseless act of violence. It was a cold, calculated crime that stole a life and put New Yorkers at risk. “We do not celebrate murders, and we do not praise the murder of anyone.”

According to a CBS News source, it is expected that Luigi Mangione appear before a court hearing on December 19 regarding whether he will be extradited to New York for the charges.

Prior to the disclosure of the charges against Mangione, Thomas Dickey, Luigi’s lawyerrevealed that he plans to fight his client’s extradition, in addition to disseminating that he has not “seen” evidence linking the murder weapon to the accused.
