Juan Manuel Márquez assured that overconfidence took its toll Jaime Munguía against Bruno Surace and that is why he surprisingly lost by knockout last weekend at the Caliente Stadium in Tijuana, Mexico.

In statements to ProBoxTv, Dinamita Márquez believes that Munguía He forgave Surace in the second round to put on a show and also stated that the Mexican did not prepare in the best way because he looked a little overweight.

“I think that’s what happened to Jaime Munguía, excessive confidence was what made him make mistakes, It made him fail at some points in each of the rounds. (…) When you have the opportunity to finish the fights you don’t have to think about it, you don’t have to have the confidence to say ‘I’m going to leave it for another two rounds because I don’t want to end the fight early, for what? To offer the show’. But the saying goes ‘he who forgives loses,’” he said.

“We must remember that Munguía sent him to the canvas in the second episode and I think it was time to shoot and take advantage and why not say it, knock out. (…) But I think that You should never forgive, because he who forgives loses.as they say. It was a great surprise from Surace doing a perfect knockout, a very good knockout to Jaime Munguía,” he added.

The fight with Surace had started very well for Jaime Munguía, since that sent him to the canvas with a left hook in the second round. The Mexican kept the pressure on in the following rounds, but Brunello protected himself very well against the ropes and counterattacked dangerously.

In the sixth, the Tijuana native had the Frenchman on the ropes and did not see a powerful right hand coming from the Frenchman that landed him square in the jaw. Munguia He fell back to the canvas and could not stand up. When he was able to do so, the referee’s count was over and Bruno Surace hit the hit of the year.

What was supposed to be a fight to stay in shape ended up being a tragedy for the Mexican. After the defeat, Munguía He did not provide statements and has not yet commented on the matter.
