The Argentinian Antonio Mohamed He lived his first day as a Red Devil Toluca and during his presentation to the media after his first day of training he assured that Their only goal is to win the 2025 Clausura Tournament championship.

“The goal is to reach the final and win it. I am very excited, excited. The sabbatical year filled me with energy and here we are,” said ‘el Turco’ in his presentation. This is in reference to the fact that a year ago he resigned from Pumas after the elimination against Tigres in the Apertura 2023 semifinal.

Mohamed, 54, is the second best soccer coach in Mexico in the last 12 years, having won three titles: the 2021 Apertura with Tijuana, 2014 with América and in 2019 with Monterrey.

In 2025 he will bet on getting Toluca out of a results crisis, with almost 15 years without a league championship.

“Some minimum details of the template need to be rounded off”said the Argentine coach after praising the work of his predecessor, the Portuguese Renato Paiva.

According to Mohamed, Toluca has everything to be a competitive team and at the moment he only has in mind signing a defender, a midfielder and some unbalancing player up front.

When referring to soccer in Mexico, he said that it is different, it is decided in a short league and a club can have a perfect performance in 18 days and then be eliminated in two games.

Something like this happened to Toluca in the Apertura tournament, which ended this Sunday. The team led by Paiva finished the regular phase in second place, but was eliminated in the quarterfinals by América.

“The feeling of winning a title is in every step one takes at the club. My only goal is to win the championship, but for that I have to take solid steps. “I get on a train walking, a train that brings a backpack with a lot of work,” he concluded.

Toluca is the third team with the most league titles in Mexico, with 10, but has not won any since the Bicentenario tournament in 2010.
